So I finally picked up a ZV-1 for my solo trip to Japan next month because I'm tired of lugging my A7III around everywhere but man the battery life on this thing is kind of a joke lol. I've been shooting for years and I'm used to those big Z batteries that last all day but these tiny BX1 packs are dying after like 40 minutes of 4k recording. I need to grab a handful of extras before I leave but I'm torn on whether to just shell out for the Sony originals or if those Wasabi or Neweer sets are actually reliable enough to trust for a two-week trip.
Also the rear LCD feels way more fragile than my other gear and since it's a flip-out screen I'm worried about getting a protector that's too thick because it might catch on the hinge or keep the screen from closing flush against the body. Does anyone have a specific brand of tempered glass that actually fits perfectly? I saw some cheap ones on Amazon but the reviews are all over the place about touch sensitivity. I'm looking to spend maybe 50-60 bucks total for a few batteries and the screen covers since I already blew my budget on the camera itself... what are you guys using that doesnt suck?
Japan is gonna be incredible!! I totally get the battery struggle tho lol. Definitely grab the Wasabi Power NP-BX1 1600mAh 2-Pack and Charger kit—they are fantastic backups and work great. For the screen, ULBTER Sony ZV-1 0.3mm Tempered Glass Screen Protector is amazing because it is thin enough to let the screen flip shut perfectly. TL;DR: Wasabi batteries and Ulbter glass are the best budget picks!
