Should I wait for Prime Day 2026 for a Sony Bravia?

Ive been a Sony guy for like ten years now, ever since my old XBR finally kicked the bucket. I know my way around a spec sheet and I am usually the guy telling my friends to wait for Black Friday or those mid-summer clearout sales but honestly the current pricing trends are throwing me for a loop lately. Im looking at the Bravia 9 because my living room in Phoenix gets a ton of direct sunlight and I really need that crazy high peak brightness to fight the glare but the price just isnt budging like it usually does after a year in the cycle.

Normally Id just pull the trigger on a clearance model from the previous year but with the 2025 lineup looking like a bit of a lateral move in some areas and then potentially huge jumps in XR processing for the 2026 sets i'm totally stuck. My budget is pretty firm at $2000 and I really want a 75-inch but the current 2024 models are still sitting high and the 2025s are obviously gonna be MSRP for a while. If I wait for Prime Day 2026 I might actually get a flagship at my price point but then I am stuck with my dying LED with the weird purple tint for another year and a half.

Do you guys think the jump to the 2026 chips is gonna be worth the long wait or should I just stop overthinking it and grab a discounted Bravia 7 now and hope for the best?

I just saw this thread and wanted to chime in. Over the years, I've set up dozens of displays in high-glare rooms. Honestly, waiting until 2026 with a dying purple screen is gonna be torture, especially when current tech is already outstanding. Here are a couple of solid routes to get you through that Phoenix sun right now:

  • Consider the Samsung QN90D 75-inch Neo QLED TV. Its anti-reflective coating is top-tier and it handles direct sunlight beautifully without washing out. It regularly dips close to your budget on sale.
  • Look at the Hisense 75U8N 75-inch Mini-LED TV. If you want sheer raw brightness to fight glare, this thing hits insane peak nits and costs way less than two grand. Let me know if you want to chat about calibration settings for bright rooms, always down to help a fellow enthusiast out.

Honestly, waiting a year and a half for a potential tech jump while your current TV is literally dying sounds like a bad time. That purple tint is only gonna get worse and ruin your movies. I am super happy with the brightness levels on the current Mini-LED stuff, so you really dont need to stress the 2026 chips that much. If I were you, Id look at these options instead:

  • Grab the Sony Bravia 7 75-Inch Mini LED 4K during a holiday sale when it hits that $2000 mark.
  • Keep an eye on open-box deals for the Sony Bravia 9 75-Inch Mini LED 4K at local retailers since people return them for the tiniest reasons. I went with a Bravia 7 and its honestly been perfect for my bright living room. Glare is barely an issue anymore and the colors are great. No complaints at all. Just get something now and enjoy the upgrade instead of suffering with a broken screen for two more summers.
