What is the best cheap wide angle lens for a Sony ZV-E10 because I am honestly so lost right now. I bought the camera for my trip to Tokyo in three weeks but the lens that came in the box makes my head look giant when I try to film myself.

I've been googling for hours and everyone talks about f-stops and mm and it just makes my brain hurt and I have no idea where to start. I really need something under $250 because I basically broke the bank buying the camera itself. Is there anything that lets me see more of the background while I'm walking around? Sorry if this is a really basic question I just dont want to ruin my vacation footage...

Like someone mentioned, that crop is a pain. Do you need autofocus for Tokyo tho? I'm satisfied with the Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Sony E for reliable, wide vlogging.

I was very satisfied with the TTArtisan 10mm f2.0 ASPH Sony E during my travels. It works well for $160 and that 10mm focal length basically eliminates the ZV-E10s vlogging crop issues...

Did this last week, worked perfectly

To add to the point above, that crop factor on the ZV-E10 is honestly a mess when you turn on Active Steadyshot. It is basically a 1.44x total crop, which is why your kit lens is failing you. Unfortunately, those manual lenses mentioned earlier are risky for a trip to Tokyo if you arent used to pulling focus while walking. Reliability is everything when you are on vacation and dont want to miss a shot.

  • Samyang AF 12mm f/2.0 E: This is the one you want for reliability. The autofocus is decent, but unfortunately, it might be slightly over $250 unless you find a used deal. It gives you about an 18mm equivalent field of view which is perfect for vlogging.
  • Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Sony E: Super sharp and reliable, but honestly 16mm is still gonna feel a bit tight once the ZV-E10 crops in for stabilization. Great for low light in Shinjuku tho.
  • 7Artisans 12mm f/2.8 II Sony E: This is the budget king at around $150. Its manual focus though, and the build quality isnt as reliable as the Sigma. Some copies have decentering issues which is super annoying. Check used sites so you stay under that $250 limit. You dont want to get to Japan and realize your footage is blurry because you couldnt nail the focus manually! Let me know if you need help looking at specific listings or need more specs.
