im looking ahead to next summer and trying to figure out if i should just hold out for prime day 2026 to grab an lg oled. i currently have this old vizio that is literally dying on me- the screen flickers every time i turn on my ps5 and its driving me crazy. my budget is strictly under 1500 bucks for a 65 inch and i really want that infinite contrast everyone talks about. so i was thinking, if i wait until july, will the prices for the C6 (assuming thats what its called by then) actually drop or am i better off hunting for a clearance C5 from 2025?

i did some digging on some tech blogs and one guy was saying that amazon prime day is usually better for the mid-range stuff and that high-end oleds actually get deeper discounts during black friday or even the super bowl sales. but then i saw another post on reddit where someone scored a C4 last year for like 40% off during a lightning deal on prime day so now im just conflicted. my logic was that by july 2026 the 2025 models should be at their absolute lowest price before they disappear entirely but i dont know if amazon keeps enough stock of the older units for a major sale like that.

there are a few specific things im looking for:

  • 120hz refresh rate for gaming
  • decent brightness for a sunny room
  • g-sync support since i might hook up my pc

plus i live in a condo with a huge south-facing window and i heard the G series has that better heat sink and brightness but thats probably way out of my price range even on sale right? im trying to weigh the risk of waiting another 8 or 9 months with a flickering tv versus just biting the bullet now if a random sale pops up. i read somewhere that the deals are sometimes just inflated msrps that they mark down to the normal price anyway which makes me paranoid.

if i wait for prime day is it usually just invitation only deals for the really good lg sets or can anyone usually grab them if they're fast enough? i just dont want to wait all the way until next summer only to find out the discount is like fifty bucks or something stupid and then i realize i could have just bought it in the spring...

Honestly, waiting for Prime Day usually ends in disappointment. I tried it once and missed out cuz stock vanished in seconds...

  • LG C4 65-Inch OLED 4K 120Hz is solid for gaming, but unfortunately its brightness sucked in my sunny room.
  • LG G4 65-Inch OLED Evo MLA has the brightness you need but its always way too pricey. Clearance C5 hunting in April is way more reliable than Prime Day gambles.

> i heard the G series has that better heat sink and brightness but thats probably way out of my price range Coming back to this... I would be really careful about banking everything on Prime Day. If your current Vizio is already dying, waiting another 8 or 9 months is gonna be a total pain. My main concern for you is that south-facing window tho. Honestly, even a C-series might struggle with that much direct light. I might want to consider looking at the Samsung S90D 65-Inch Class OLED 4K S90D instead. It uses QD-OLED which usually pops a bit more in bright rooms compared to the standard LG C-series panels, and it still has great G-Sync support for your PC. You should also be wary of the invitation only stuff on Amazon. It is basically a lottery and most people dont actually get picked. If you are dead set on LG but worried about the budget, you might want to look for a LG B4 65-Inch Class OLED 4K B4 to save some cash, but it definitely lacks the brightness of the higher tiers. Make sure to:

  • Check the return policy before you click buy
  • Inspect the panel for banding immediately since shipping gets messy during big sales
  • Consider a 5-year burn-in warranty if you are keeping it in a sunny room I would suggest not ignoring local shops too... sometimes they have floor models or open-box deals on the LG G4 65-Inch OLED evo G4 with MLA that could actually hit your 1500 budget. It is a bit of a risk, but the brightness boost from that MLA tech is night and day for sunny condos. Just dont settle for a dim screen just to save fifty bucks.

Adding my two cents because I love tracking these panel specs! You definitely need to check out the data on RTINGS or monitor price history via CamelCamelCamel. Its fantastic for spotting those fake MSRP markdowns!

  • What is the estimated peak brightness in nits you need for that south-facing window?
  • Do you prioritize low input lag over color accuracy for your PS5? Checking those technical details is vital for your specific setup!
