So my living room is a total disaster zone right now because the renovation is running way behind but the contractor promised the main wall will be ready by mid-July so I am panicking. I live in Chicago and the way the room is set up I absolutely need a 75-inch screen to fill the space otherwise it's gonna look tiny on that wall. I've got a budget of maybe $1,100 or $1,200 tops and I am really hoping Prime Day 2026 is actually gonna deliver this year.

I've been doing some digging and I'm honestly more confused than when I started. I read on one of those tech blogs that the 2026 Sony models are supposed to have way better processing but then I saw a Reddit thread saying that for Prime Day Amazon mostly just dumps their stock of 2025 models like the Hisense U8 series or the TCL QM8. I am torn because I really want the latest tech for my PS5 but I dont know if the "new" 2026 75-inch TVs will even be on sale or if it's just gonna be the old stuff. Some people are saying the Samsung QN90 series might drop to a decent price but others say Samsung's QC has been spotty lately which scares me since this is a lot of money for me.

Is it worth waiting for the actual Prime Day dates or should I just jump on one of these "early" deals I'm seeing? I saw a 75-inch LG QNED for $950 today and I almost pulled the trigger but then I worried it wouldn't be bright enough for my sunny living room. Plus with the big sports stuff coming up this summer I dont want to be stuck with a screen that has bad motion blur. Does anyone have a lead on which 75 inch sets are actually confirmed for the big discounts this year or is it all just guessing games until the event starts?

Does anyone know if the high-end TCLs or Samsungs actually drop below a grand during Prime Day or am I just dreaming at this point...

@Reply #1 - good point! Honestly tho, I gotta say the 2026 lineups have been kinda a letdown so far. I was expecting way more from the mid-range stuff but unfortunately the peak brightness on the entry-level 2026 Sony models isnt hitting the marks they used to. If you have a sunny room like you mentioned, those cheaper LGs or base Sonys will just turn into a mirror during the day. Few things to keep in mind:

  • Check the real-world nit measurements on Rtings before you buy anything. If its under 600 nits, itll struggle in that Chicago sun.
  • Stick to last years flagships like the Samsung QN90D 75-inch Neo QLED if it hits your budget. The newer 2026 version is barely different and way more expensive right now.
  • Make sure whatever you get has at least two HDMI 2.1 ports for that PS5. I had some issues with the local dimming on my last Samsung so definitely check for panel uniformity issues right after it arrives. Prime Day usually clears out the Sony X90L 75-inch 4K LED stock too, which is basically the gold standard for motion handling if youre watching sports. Good luck with the renovation mess... been there, done that.

@Reply #2 - good point! But I actually think the older stock is where the real magic happens! I snagged a Samsung QN90E 75-inch Neo QLED 4K and wow... the brightness is just fantastic for my sunny living room. That screen handles my PS5 perfectly too! I bet you'll find it under $1,200 if you stay glued to the lightning deals. Love mine so much!

Definitely wait for Prime Day. The TCL 75-inch QM8 Mini-LED and Hisense 75-inch U8 Series usually drop below $1,100, offering way better brightness and gaming performance than those cheaper LG QNEDs.
