Which Chrome extension is best for creating shared grocery shopping lists?

Oh man, I am so excited because my partner and I are finally moving into our new apartment in Chicago next Tuesday! We are trying to get totally organized with our grocery shopping so we dont end up buying double of everything. Since we both basically live in our Chrome browsers during work hours, I really want a Chrome extension where we can both add stuff to a shared list in real-time.

I did some digging online and saw people recommending Bring! and Todoist. But Bring! seems mostly like a mobile app and the Chrome extension is apparently just a basic web clipper which doesnt really let us manage the list directly from the toolbar. Todoist looks cool but honestly it feels way too complicated and bloated for just buying milk and veggies, and I dont want to pay for their premium features just to share a simple list.

Here is what we are looking for:

  • Must have a solid Chrome extension that lets us view and edit the list directly
  • Real-time syncing between our accounts
  • Totally free or at least super cheap, like under 5 bucks
  • Simple interface without a million project management features

Does anyone have a favorite extension that actually fits this? I really want to get this set up before the move next week!

Unfortunately, most grocery extensions I've tried lately have been pretty glitchy and not as good as expected. I had major issues with stuff not syncing, which was a total pain. Honestly, just go with any list tool from Google, you cant go wrong. You might find better info via Share Product too. Good luck with the big move to Chicago!

Congrats on the move! Quick question tho... do you guys need it to categorize aisles automatically, or is a simple checklist okay? I would suggest staying away from the really heavy extensions. They usually get buggy.

  • Microsoft To Do (syncs well)
  • Any.do (basic version is fine) Be careful with sync delays, tho. For your pantry basics, you could share Amazon Wishlist to keep things simple. Good luck!
