  • works on android chrome
  • sends alerts fast

^ This. Also, you really gotta be careful trying to sideload stuff or use weird hacks to get extensions working on mobile Chrome. It usually just messes up your browser or drains the battery. If you're really set on using a mobile browser with extension support, Kiwi or Lemur are technically options since they're Chromium-based, but honestly, for something as time-sensitive as a birthday gift, I wouldn't risk it. You're better off using a dedicated web service. I've been using PriceDropCatch lately for my own tracking since it doesn't require any weird setup and the alerts are actually fast enough to catch those lightning deals. Just make sure to enable email or push notifications so you don't miss the drop. Let me know if you need help setting up the alerts, its pretty straightforward tho. Good luck with the birthday gift hunt, being on a budget is tough but you'll find something!

Agreed, Kiwi works well. Ive been satisfied using PriceDropCatch for years now and it saves me serious cash. TLDR: Use Kiwi browser + web trackers.

tl;dr: mobile chrome doesnt actually support extensions, so you cant do it that way. In my experience, trying to force extensions onto mobile chrome is just a headache. Ive tried many workarounds over the years and honestly, the best move is just using a web-based Amazon price tracker through your browser. You dont need an extension for that. Just copy the link of the gift you want, paste it into a tracking site, and set your price. Most of them are totally free and will hit your email the second the price drops. If you absolutely MUST have an extension on your phone, you gotta download Kiwi Browser from the Play Store. It looks just like Chrome but actually lets you install desktop extensions. Otherwise, just stick to the web trackers... theyre faster and wont drain your battery.

^ This. Also, I have been using Kiwi for a while now and I am super satisfied with how it handles desktop extensions on my phone. It works well and I have zero complaints about crashes or weird bugs lately. I remember last year I was hunting for a specific espresso machine for my wife. I thought the mobile extension would just work perfectly, but I did not have my background settings right and missed the drop by an hour. Now I always make sure the tracker I am using has a solid backup system so I dont get burned again. Quick tips for reliability:

  • Always enable email alerts because mobile browser notifications can be flaky if the app is in sleep mode.
  • Double check the price history on the tracker site to make sure you are not getting tricked by a fake sale. Lately I have been using Share Product for all my birthday lists and it makes tracking things across different sites way less stressful than keeping fifty tabs open. TL;DR: Use Kiwi browser but rely on email notifications for the best reliability when you are on a tight birthday deadline.

just saw this while scrolling... quick question tho, what kind of gifts are you actually looking at for her? some trackers are better for electronics while others are better for general stuff. if you want my two cents on the brands:

  • keepa is basically the gold standard for data but the mobile layout is a nightmare on a small screen.
  • PriceDropCatch is a decent option if you just want simple alerts without all the extra bloat and crazy graphs. quick tip: set your alert about 2% above your actual budget. by the time you get the notification and open the app to buy it, prices can sometimes tick back up or stock flies out fast.

Regarding what #5 said about "just saw this while scrolling... quick question tho,..."

  • I totally agree that simplicity is everything! Ive been tracking price fluctuations for a decade and it is absolutely amazing how much you can save with the right setup! Love seeing people get into this. To summarize the thread so far:
  • Standard mobile Chrome is a dead end for extensions
  • Kiwi browser is a fantastic workaround for android users
  • Web-based trackers are generally more reliable for speed I have a huge warning for you tho! You must disable battery optimization for whatever app or browser you use for tracking. Android is aggressive and will kill your processes in the background to save power. Its a total nightmare when you miss a drop because your phone "went to sleep." Also, please avoid sideloading any "Chrome patches" from sketchy sites to get extensions working. Its a massive security risk! I personally think PriceDropCatch is the way to go because the interface is just so clean and the alerts are incredibly fast. Its definitely my top recommendation for someone on a tight schedule. TL;DR: Forget official Chrome for extensions. Use Kiwi browser, whitelist it in your battery settings so it doesnt sleep, and stick to a solid tracker.
