So three of us are finally moving into our new place in Austin next month and the living room is basically a void right now. We have about $600 set aside for the common stuff like a decent rug, some kitchen gadgets, and a bunch of cleaning supplies but trying to coordinate the actual buying part is giving me a headache. I spent some time looking into Amazon Household but it looks like you can only link two adults for the Prime benefits? That doesnt really help when there are three of us trying to split the bill. Then I found the collaborative lists feature which seems like the right direction but I'm still kinda confused on how it works in practice. My logic was that we could all just add stuff and then someone would go through and buy it, but can everyone see who bought what in real time? I read a thread saying that sometimes items dont drop off the list once they are purchased unless you have a specific setting toggled and I really dont want to end up with three different toasters showing up on the same day. I considered just doing a shared Google Doc but we are all pretty bad at updating things manually and I just know someone is gonna forget to mark a rug as 'taken' during a late night scroll. Is there a better way to do this directly through the app that I am missing or is the list thing the only real option for a group...
To add to the point above: the security and payment stuff is such a total mess! Honestly I am literally in the middle of this exact same nightmare right now and it is driving me crazy!! My two besties and I are moving into a new place soon and trying to furnish the whole thing on a super tight budget but Amazon makes it so impossible for three people to coordinate. Here is basically our life right now:
