I'm finally trying to mix my own tracks but I have no clue what gear I actually need. I keep seeing these Sony ones in videos but I dont know if they are for pros or just normal people... sorry if this is a basic question but whats the best one for $150?

I would suggest the Sony MDR-7506 Professional Studio Monitor Headphones. Be careful to:

  • avoid non-authorized sellers
  • verify authenticity Youll save money since these cost well under your $150 limit.

> Regarding what #2 said about the 7506 being fatiguing... hes spot on. Those highs are boosted for finding errors, not for balancing a mix. If you want the most accurate Sony sound around your budget, check out the Sony MDR-CD900ST Studio Monitor Headphones. They have a much flatter frequency response than the 7506. Just a heads up, the stock pads are thin, so maybe grab some Yaxi STPad2 for MDR-CD900ST down the line.

Just catching up on this thread. Honestly, I disagree slightly on the 7506 for actual mixing. In my experience, those get really fatiguing because the highs are super sharp. If you have $150, look at these instead:
