Ive been rocking XM4s for years for commuting but recently started doing intense HIIT and the sweat is wrecking the pads. My logic was the XM5s but theyre probably too bulky for power cleans and I dont want to ruin them. Budget is 300 bucks. Should I just get buds or is there an over-ear that wont slide?
Man, i totally feel you on the XM4s. I tried taking my Sony WH-1000XM4 Over-Ear Noise Cancelling Headphones to a crossfit session once and it was a total nightmare. The pads got soggy and they kept sliding down my face during kettlebell swings... i was constantly adjusting them instead of focusing on my form. I eventually switched over to the Sony WF-1000XM5 True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earbuds and i have been super happy with them ever since. They stay perfectly locked in my ears even during box jumps or power cleans, plus they have actual sweat resistance which is huge. Over-ears just trap way too much heat for HIIT, basically turning your ears into a swamp lol. The noise cancelling on these buds is surprisingly close to the over-ear version. For under 300 bucks, its easily the best move for serious gym sessions tbh.
^ This. Also, you should definitely grab the Sony Float Run Off-Ear Wireless Headphones! They're amazing for HIIT because they wont slide or trap any sweat during those cleans!
