Sony a7 Mark V Release Date ? Worth Waiting ?

Hey everyone,

I've been eagerly anticipating the release of the Sony a7 Mark V, but there hasn't been any official announcement yet. Does anyone have insights on when this camera might be launched?

Also, as someone looking to upgrade from my current setup, would you recommend waiting for the a7 Mark V or going for the already available a7 Mark IV? I'm particularly interested in improvements in autofocus, low-light performance, and video capabilities.

Any thoughts or information would be greatly appreciated!

Like someone mentioned, 2025 is looking more realistic and that is unfortunately quite a long wait for anyone needing an immediate upgrade. I personally had issues with the reliability of the current generation during long shoots and it really was not as good as expected in terms of heat management. Waiting is a gamble because first-batch units often have their own bugs anyway. To give better advice, what exactly is your current setup and where is it failing you? Are you more concerned about the autofocus tracking for fast action or are you strictly looking for better internal video codecs for professional work?

There is little rumors on a7v yet, I think the earliest announcement date for a7V is in late 2024.
