Does anyone know what battery grip I actually need for the Sony a9 III because I am totally lost and dont want to buy the wrong thing? I just got this camera for my kids soccer games here in Chicago and its way more complicated than I thought it would be. I feel like such a dummy even asking this but I really have no idea where to start with accessories or what even fits this specific model.
My uncle gave me the camera as a graduation gift since I want to get into sports photography but I noticed the battery seems to go down pretty quick when I am just practicing in the backyard. Someone at the park mentioned I should get a grip so I can hold it better sideways and have more battery life but when I look online there are so many options. Is there a specific one that is a must-have for sports or are they all basically the same thing?
I have maybe 300 dollars left to spend on this for now before the season starts next month. I keep seeing the VG-C5 mentioned but it looks really expensive and I dont want to waste money if there is a better way to do this. If anyone could explain this to me like I am five years old that would be amazing because I am drowning in all these technical terms and just want to take good pictures of the team...
Maybe consider the Meike MK-A9III Battery Grip to save cash, but I would suggest the Sony VG-C5 Vertical Grip for Alpha 9 III instead because cheap ones might glitch. Be careful tho...
> Is it hard to install or do I need tools? I'm always terrified of off-brand electronics failing! I love my SmallRig L-Shape Grip for Sony Alpha 9 III 4543 because it's super sturdy for vertical shots and feels amazing during those soccer games!
@Reply #1 - good point! honestly before you buy a grip like the Sony VG-C5 Vertical Grip for Alpha 9 III you should check your battery situation. ive tried many setups and a grip is basically just a plastic shell if you dont have two batteries to put in it. are you using the official Sony NP-FZ100 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery or a different brand? cheap batteries can really mess with the high frame rates on an a9.
