So I've been looking at cards for my a1 and I'm honestly kinda panicking because my first big wedding gig is in three weeks and I need something that won't fail during the ceremony. I saw that the Sony Tough cards are like the gold standard but they are so pricey and I've read some weird stuff about them overheating during long bursts. Then I looked at the ProGrade ones because the price is better but then some people on Reddit said they had issues with the camera not recognizing them after a firmware update so I'm just stuck. My logic was to get two 160GB cards for $500 but now I'm scared of losing data... what are you guys actually using for high speed stuff?

Look, the Sony tax isnt worth it when there are cards with identical VPG ratings for half the price. I've been using these for high-bitrate video and bursts:

Building on the earlier suggestion, I totally get the anxiety about gear failing mid-shoot. Honestly, when I first started out with my a1, I was paralyzed by the thought of a card dying during a key moment. I ended up going a slightly different route because I wanted that peace of mind without spending my entire paycheck. I actually landed on the Delkin Devices BLACK CFexpress Type A 160GB. What sold me was their replacement guarantee—as someone who worries about everything, knowing they have a solid warranty program is huge. Performance-wise, it has been rock solid for me. No overheating, no weird error messages, it just works every time I pop it in. I also picked up the Exascend Essential CFexpress Type A 180GB as a backup recently. Its slightly cheaper than the big names but feels super premium. It actually runs a bit cooler than the Sony ones I borrowed once, though maybe it is a tiny bit slower on the buffer clear. Tbh, for most wedding stuff, you probably wont even notice the difference. My advice? Just get two reliable cards and shoot to both slots at the same time. Its the only way I can sleep the night before a big gig... having that redundancy is worth more than any specific brand name, imo. Youll be fine! Good luck with the wedding.

> then some people on Reddit said they had issues with the camera not recognizing them after a firmware update I experienced a similar level of anxiety before my first major event last season. After much research, I've been extremely satisfied with the Sony TOUGH series. My experience has been entirely positive tho. They've been rock solid through every firmware update and long ceremony I've managed. You basically cant go wrong with the official Sony cards if you want zero stress. They just work.
