What are the best vertical grips for the Sony a7R V that actually work right?

Ive been shooting Sony for years but this body is giving me fits with a cheap Meike one I got for a Chicago wedding next month. The shutter lag is insane and it keeps losing connection mid-burst. My budget is $300.

Man, I had the same issues with cheap grips at a wedding last year and it was a total nightmare. I tried saving cash but the lag was embarrassing. Unfortunately, clones just aren't as good as expected. I finally got the Sony VG-C4EM Vertical Grip. It's way better:

  • Instant shutter response
  • Solid build
  • No random disconnects Tbh, it's worth the $300 for the peace of mind.

Regarding what #2 said about Vello BG-S7 Battery Grip for Sony A7R V, totally agree. Ive found Hahnel HC-S7V Battery Grip uses thicker copper contacts to prevent lag for half the price.

The Vello BG-S7 Battery Grip for Sony A7R V has better circuit isolation than Meike.

  • Low-latency shutter response
  • Improved pin conductivity Tbh, third-party communication protocols are often too slow for the A7RV buffer.
