You may choose either Lexar CFexpress Type A Gold series or Sony TOUGH CFExpress Type A cards. Both are top selling CFexpress Type A cards now.

+1 for Lexar CFexpress Type A Gold series

Saw this thread earlier... honestly the whole card situation for the a1 is just exhausting. I spent so much time digging into different brands trying to see why one costs double what the other does.

  • The price gap between the basic cards and the high-end ones is insane.
  • Dealing with buffer lag on the cheaper options almost ruined a few shoots for me.
  • Finally found a brand combo that stays cool and keeps up. Tbh I'm super satisfied with how my current setup performs now, but getting here was a headache. No complaints about the speed anymore at least.

SanDisk and Lexar UHS-II SD cards are also great if you are looking for cheaper cards than CFexpress Type A.

So how about new CFexpress Type A 4.0 cards ?

Should I get these cards or just original CFexpress Type A cards, what is the advantage of CFexpress 4.0 ?

I find Amazon and B&H have these cards:

@berry_mu Sony a1 seems not supports these CFexpress 4.0 cards, you should wait for Sony A1 II.

For the Sony a1, it's crucial to use high-speed and reliable memory cards due to its demanding 8K video and fast continuous shooting capabilities. The best choices are generally CFexpress Type A cards, offering blazing-fast write speeds that match the camera's capabilities. These cards ensure smooth 8K video recording and rapid burst shooting without buffering issues, making them ideal for maximizing the Sony a1's performance. Always choose reputable brands like Sony, Sandisk, or Lexar to ensure reliability and compatibility with your camera.

CFexpress Type A and UHS-II V90 SD are best choices.
