So Im prepping for a birding trip to Iceland next month and need more speed for my a1. Im torn between the Sony Tough 160GB and the ProGrade Gold series. My logic was that Sony is more reliable but the ProGrade is way cheaper for the same capacity. Does the ProGrade actually keep up with the 30fps bursts or is it gonna lag?

I've tried many over the years and honestly Sony TOUGH CFexpress Type A 160GB is the only way to go. Its way more reliable for those critical birding shots, ngl.

Honestly, i had some issues with the ProGrade Digital CFexpress Type A Gold 160GB when i was out shooting sports last year. It was super disappointing because the price looked so good, but it just couldnt keep up with the sustained 30fps bursts on my a1. The buffer took forever to clear and i actually missed a few key moments. Basically, if youre doing birding in Iceland, you really dont want that lag when things get fast... it sucks missing the shot. I ended up trying the Lexar Professional CFexpress Type A Card Gold Series 160GB and its been a bit more consistent for me, though i still think the Sony CEA-G160T Tough 160GB is the safest bet for high-stakes trips. The ProGrade just felt like it throttled too much under pressure which is frustrating. Just make sure you check the sustained write specs, not just the peak ones. Let me know if you want more info on my setup!

Can confirm this works. Did the same thing on mine and its been solid ever since.
