For the camera body, I'd highly recommend the Sony A7R V. Its 61MP sensor will give you incredible detail and sharpness for macro shots. Pair it with the Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS lens and you'll have an amazing macro setup. The 90mm focal length works well on full frame and the lens is super sharp. It also has effective optical stabilization which helps a lot for handheld macro shooting.

The a7R series mirrorless cameras are great for Macro photography.

If you want the ability to go beyond 1:1 magnification, take a look at this combo:

• Camera: Sony a7R III - 42MP is plenty for macro and more affordable than the a7R IV
• Lens: Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO - a specialized manual focus macro lens that goes up to 2:1 magnification

The Laowa 100mm is a niche lens for those times when you need to get really close and magnify tiny subjects. It's extremely sharp and a top performer for its unique capabilities. Pair it with the high resolution of the a7R III and you can capture macro photos that aren't possible with most other setups.
