I'm looking to get into macro photography and want to go with a Sony full frame setup. What's the best camera body and macro lens combo that will give me really sharp, detailed close-up shots? I'd appreciate any advice from Sony shooters doing macro work. Thanks!
For the camera body, I'd highly recommend the Sony A7R V. Its 61MP sensor will give you incredible detail and sharpness for macro shots. Pair it with the Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS lens and you'll have an amazing macro setup. The 90mm focal length works well on full frame and the lens is super sharp. It also has effective optical stabilization which helps a lot for handheld macro shooting.
The a7R series mirrorless cameras are great for Macro photography.
If you want the ability to go beyond 1:1 magnification, take a look at this combo:
The Laowa 100mm is a niche lens for those times when you need to get really close and magnify tiny subjects. It's extremely sharp and a top performer for its unique capabilities. Pair it with the high resolution of the a7R III and you can capture macro photos that aren't possible with most other setups.
