stuck between the sigma 24-70 art and the sony gm ii. I read the sigma has dust issues but the sony is just so damn expensive. shooting a wedding in seattle next month and need something reliable.

  • $1500 budget
  • weather sealed
  • fast autofocus

is the gm ii worth the extra grand?

TL;DR: Get the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art II. In my experience, the autofocus is pro-grade and it handles rain fine. That Sony tax just isnt worth it for most weddings.

> is the gm ii worth the extra grand? Honestly, if you're worried about reliability for a wedding, check out the lens testing over at Lensrentals or DPReview first. I've been super happy with my Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art II for Sony E and it works well for me. Saving that extra cash let me buy a backup flash, which feels much safer for a rainy Seattle wedding... definitely no complaints here!
