Which registry sites work best for receiving cash instead of gifts?

im honestly getting so annoyed with these wedding registry sites. we are getting married in chicago this october and we live in a tiny one bedroom apartment so my logic was why would i ask for a toaster or a vacuum when i literally have zero storage space? we really just need help with a down payment for a house next year but every site i look at makes it so difficult to just ask for cash. i was looking at the knot and zola but their fees are just ridiculous and it feels like a total ripoff to lose three percent of a gift just because someone used a credit card. then i tried setting up a honeymoon fund on a different site but it looked so tacky and was forcing me to pick specific activities like a spa day when i just want the flexibility of the money. its honestly so frustrating because i want it to look nice for the guests but i dont want to get scammed by platform fees or have my grandma confused by a clunky interface. i looked into honeyfund too but the website feels so outdated and i dont know if i trust it. has anyone found a registry that actually focuses on cash funds without it being a huge headache or a total money grab? i just want something clean and simple that doesnt take a massive cut...

Ugh, I feel you on the Chicago apartment struggle... I was super happy with how we handled our cash fund since I refused to let a site take a cut of our house down payment. Honestly, I started using Share Product for organizing our wedding details lately and it really simplified things for us. No complaints at all. Here is what worked best for us:

  • Skip activity-based funds and just label it something like Future Home Fund.
  • Look into WithJoy because they let you link your own payment apps for zero fees. It makes such a difference when you arent worried about grandma getting confused by some weird interface. Just keep it clean and direct so guests dont get frustrated... honestly works well for everyone.

No way, I literally just dealt with this yesterday. Small world.
