Honestly I am so fed up with how difficult it is to just shop with another person on Amazon. My partner and I are finally moving into a new apartment in Chicago in about three weeks and we have a huge list of stuff to get-kitchen gear, bathroom stuff, some basic furniture-and it is a total mess trying to manage it. Right now we are literally texting links back and forth or shouting across the room to see if the other person liked a specific toaster. I thought that since we share a Prime account through the Amazon Household thing we would be able to just see one cart but nope, it is still totally separate. It is so inefficient and honestly just exhausting when you are already stressed about moving. I almost bought the same vacuum he had in his cart yesterday because I didnt know he already picked one out. Is there any way at all to actually share a live shopping cart so we can both see what is in there and just hit checkout once? Or is there some kind of workaround that isnt just making a wishlist because those are kind of a pain for quick shopping. I just want a simple way to collaborate without the constant back and forth...

I went through this exact same thing last year when we moved. Honestly, its super annoying that Amazon still doesnt have a native shared cart feature. Even with the Household setup, they keep your actual shopping carts strictly separate because of how their tracking and payment systems work. I found out the hard way that just sharing a password and logging into the same account is a bad idea because you might end up getting your account locked for suspicious activity if you are both clicking around at the same time from different devices. I would suggest you be careful with just relying on Lists because they dont update fast enough and someone usually forgets to move the item to the cart anyway. Since you are dealing with furniture and kitchen gear, you might want to consider using a tool to share Amazon carts so you can actually see what is in there in real time. It saves so much stress when you are already dealing with moving boxes. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Never just leave items in the cart for days because prices on Amazon change constantly.
- Make sure to check the Sold by section if you guys are adding similar items to avoid those duplicate vacuum situations.
- Be careful about using one login for two people; it genuinely messes with your individual recommendations for months.
- Its way more cost-effective to use an extension that syncs everything rather than paying for two separate shipping orders. Basically, dont expect Amazon to fix this themselves anytime soon... they want you to buy more, not coordinate better.

Just caught up with this thread and honestly... i feel your pain so much. Amazon Household is such a letdown for actual collaboration, unfortunately. Its really not as good as expected for a company that big and it drives me crazy. What we ended up doing to save money and our sanity was using a browser extension called Share-A-Cart. Its free and pretty straightforward. You just fill your cart, hit a button, and it gives you a code to send to your partner so they can see everything on their end. If you want to keep it simple without downloads, just make a dedicated list and turn on the collaboration setting. You both dump items in there, and when youre ready, one person just moves it all to the cart at once. Its not perfect but way better than texting links 24/7. I've been using the method I found on Smartphone Board for office supplies and it's a total lifesaver.
