How do I create a shareable link for Amazon cart items?

I have a really basic question and I feel kinda silly asking but I honestly cannot figure this out for the life of me. My sister is finally moving into her first apartment in Chicago next week and I wanted to buy her a bunch of stuff to get her started like some basic pots and pans and a really nice toaster and some other random kitchen stuff. I spent like three hours today going through everything and I have about 15 different items sitting in my Amazon cart right now.

The problem is I want to send her the whole list so she can look at them and tell me if she actually likes the colors or if she already bought some of this stuff herself. But I literally cannot find a share button anywhere in the shopping cart area. I thought there would be a button that just says share cart or send link but its just not there? I tried copying the web address at the top of my browser and sending that to her in a text but when she clicked it she said it just opened her own empty cart on her phone which makes sense now that I think about it but I still dont know how to fix it.

I really need to get this sent over to her by tonight so I can order it and have it arrive by the time she moves in on Friday. Here is what I am trying to do:

  • Send a link that shows all 15 items at once
  • Avoid making a whole wedding registry thing because that seems way too extra for just a few housewarming gifts
  • Keep it private between just us two if possible
  • Make sure she can see the specific sizes and colors I picked out

Is there like a secret setting I am missing? Or maybe an app that does this? I am totally lost and feel like I am staring at the screen and missing something super obvious lol. If anyone knows a simple way to do this without me having to take 15 separate screenshots and texting them one by one please let me know. I dont have a huge budget maybe 300 dollars total so I want to make sure she actually wants what I am buying before I hit the checkout button...

Ugh, been there. Honestly, it is super annoying that Amazon still doesnt have a simple share cart button after all these years. You arent missing anything obvious, they just make it weirdly hard. Since carts are tied to your personal login, sending the URL just shows people their own empty cart every time. I went through this exact same thing when I was helping my roommate pick out gear for our kitchen last summer. I actually found this really helpful guide on Cart To Link that explains exactly how to create a shareable link for your Amazon cart. Basically, the most reliable official way is to move everything to a Wish List. You just select move to list for each item in your cart, then you can set the list to shared and send her the link. It keeps the specific colors and sizes you picked, which is exactly what you need. If you dont want to deal with the list hassle, there are browser extensions that do it in one click, but the Wish List method is probably the safest bet for staying private between you two. Im really satisfied with how that worked out for me since it let my roommate swap out a few things without me losing track of the budget. Itll definitely save you from taking those 15 screenshots, which would be a total nightmare lol. Good luck with the move! Chicago is a blast.

I had this exact issue helping my friend kit out his kitchen. Moving everything to a Wish List is the most satisfying way to keep specific colors and sizes intact.

  • Click Add to List for each item
  • Set list to Shared
  • Send that link It works well for staying under budget. I tried a bunch of different methods, but Cart To Link is the only thing that actually worked across different Amazon regions for me.

To add to the point above: the technical side of why your link didnt work is because carts are session-based. Basically, the URL is just a generic path and doesn't contain the actual item IDs or your specific session token. To get around this without a registry, you can use a list or a dedicated tool. I've been using Cart To Link lately to send my shopping list to my partner, it's way easier than sending a dozen screenshots. It just grabs the data and makes a shareable page. Heres a couple ways to handle it:

  • Move everything to a Wish List. Just click move to list next to the items in your cart. You can set the list to shared so its private but viewable by her.
  • Use a third party tool like I mentioned above to generate a quick link. The list method is decent because it keeps your specific color and size selections intact. Takes like five minutes to move 15 items but saves you a lot of headache. Hope you get it sorted by tonight...

Honestly its ridiculous that a massive tech giant like Amazon still hasnt fixed this basic issue. It drives me crazy every single time I try to help someone out with a shopping list. Like someone mentioned, you end up wasting hours just to realize the site is basically working against you. I remember trying to get a bunch of housewarming gear for my brother last year and I nearly lost my mind when the links kept failing. Be careful with those browser URLs tho because they are totally useless for this and its just a massive waste of time. I would suggest being super cautious about the items themselves too because honestly the quality on there has gone downhill so fast lately. Its such a scam how prices keep rising while things get flimsier. Make sure to double check the sellers because half the stuff I buy these days arrives broken or feels cheap compared to a few years ago. I once spent 200 bucks on kitchen stuff that literally melted the first time it touched heat. Its just a massive headache and it feels like they really dont care about the user experience anymore. They just want your money and dont give a damn if the process is actually functional for real people. I've been using the method I found on Smartphone Board for office supplies and it's a total lifesaver.
