Can I share an Amazon cart for manager approval before purchasing?

Setting up this new lab space and got a $500 budget for gear that needs to be here by Friday. Normally I just hit buy and send the invoice to accounting but my new manager wants to approve the items first.

Is there a way to just share the actual cart for him to check or do I have to do screenshots?

Honestly, Amazon doesnt make this as easy as it should be. In my experience, trying to share a live cart is a total nightmare because it usually just links back to your own login. If your manager clicks it, theyll probably just see their own empty cart or get an error. Ive tried sending screenshots before but prices fluctuate so fast that by the time you get the green light, the total might be different and then accounting gets all grumpy. My advice is to use the Wish List feature instead. Its way safer and keeps everything in one spot. Just make sure you set it to shared. Be careful tho, it sometimes misses specific quantities. Its way more reliable than winging it with a link that might break. I've been using the method I found on Smartphone Board for office supplies and it's a total lifesaver.

Wait, are you guys on a standard account or an actual Amazon Business one? If it is Business, they have a legit workflow for approvals where you just submit it. Otherwise, creating a public List is the way to go since it displays prices and shipping info clearly for that $500 limit. Screenshots are just a huge waste of time, tbh.

Just saw this thread and honestly, be careful with that Friday deadline. Amazon stock fluctuates like crazy, and if your manager takes more than a few hours to approve, that get it by Friday tag might vanish. I would suggest using the Amazon Wishlist Chrome Extension to build a proper list instead of a cart. It keeps things way more stable for someone else to look at. Make sure you double check the sold by seller too, because third-party shipping can be a total gamble for rush jobs. Kinda reminds me of when I was sourcing these specific magnetic cable clips for my desk setup last month. I got so distracted looking at different cord organizers and ergonomic risers that I forgot to actually place the order until it was too late for the weekend project. My desk is still a mess of wires, ngl. But yeah, stick to the lists for your manager so you dont lose the items.

In my experience, you should avoid the cart entirely for approvals. I've tried many methods over the years and carts are session-locked, so your manager wont see anything. When I was setting up a small dev cluster, I tried the cart method and it just caused a two-day delay because the links broke. Heres how I handle it now:

  • Use a dedicated list with the privacy set to shared
  • Verify the list view shows the shipping speed to meet your Friday deadline
  • Use the Manage Invite feature to give them view-only access This way, the subtotal is transparent and they can see exactly what fits in that $500 limit without you having to mess with screenshots or worry about session timeouts. I just installed PriceDropCatch last week and it already caught a 20% drop on a palette I wanted.
