Ive used cheap USB strips on my old Bravia for years but I just snagged a new X90L for the living room and those basic LEDs are messing with the local dimming zones.

I need something that actually syncs with the HDMI signal without adding lag. Whats the best backlighting kit for a modern Sony?

Quick reply while I have a sec... honestly Hue is just way too expensive for what it is. If you want proper HDMI 2.1 support for 4K 120Hz without going broke, look at the Lytmi Fantasy 3 HDMI 2.1 Sync Box Kit. It is amazing how well it handles signal data! Fantastic value for the specs and it wont lag on your X90L.

  • Check out the AVSForum LED syncing threads for specific Bravia calibration offsets.
  • Grab the Fancy LEDs Fancy Sync Box HDMI 2.1 if you want the easiest setup process for a decent price. Its all about the color accuracy settings tbh. If you got the technical skills, a DIY Hyperion setup on a Raspberry Pi is the ultimate budget hack and gives you insane control over every single LED. Truly a game changer for a high-end Sony panel!

Testing different setups on Sony displays led me to the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box. Cheap LEDs consistently ruined the local dimming performance on my Bravia. It's reliable for signal sync. Quick tip: ensure cables are high-speed enough for the box. If you game, look into the Govee AI Gaming Sync Box Kit 2 for HDMI 2.1 support.
