Which wall mount works best for most Sony television models?

So I finally bit the bullet and grabbed a 65 inch Sony A80L and the picture is amazing but now I'm stuck on the mounting part. I live in a condo in Chicago and my living room is kind of narrow so I really need something that can swivel so people on the side couch can actually see the screen. I've been looking at a few different mounts and I'm honestly torn. The official Sony SU-WL850 seems like the safe bet but it's like $250 which feels insane for some metal brackets and I've heard it doesnt even pull out that far. Then there is the Sanus Elite full motion mount at Best Buy which is like $180 and looks super sturdy but I'm worried about the VESA holes on the back of the Sony being weirdly low down like they usually are. I also saw this EchoGear one on Amazon for like 80 bucks that has great reviews but I dont want my new expensive TV falling off the wall lol. My budget is probably around $200 max and I really need to get this ordered like tonight so I can have it up by Friday for a watch party. Between the official Sony slim mount and something more universal like the Sanus which one is actually going to be easier to install and hold up better for these specific OLED models?

I've hung dozens of these in narrow condos over the years. Those low VESA holes on Sony OLEDs are always a trip, tbh, so you need something with solid leveling.

Just saw this and honestly... save your money. I had issues with those high-end brackets before and they just arent worth the massive markup. @Reply #2 - good point! That official Sony mount is especially disappointing because it barely moves for how much it costs. I tried it once and felt totally burned. Unfortunately, most people think they need to spend 200 dollars to keep their TV safe but thats just not true. I ended up with the ECHOGEAR Full Motion TV Wall Mount For 42-90 Inch TVs and it actually works better than the pricey Sanus one I returned. It handles the low VESA holes on the A80L perfectly fine and swivels like a dream for those side seats. Its way under your budget. Dont let the lower price scare you off, its basically just solid steel and hasnt budged an inch since I put it up. Use the leftover cash for the watch party food.

Stumbled upon this yesterday and figured Id share my headache from last summer. I went through the same thing with a similar Sony OLED. I actually tried that Sony SU-WL850 Ultra Slim Wall Mount first because I wanted the official look, but honestly, the swivel is super limited. It barely moved enough for my kitchen seats. I swapped it for the Sanus VLF728-B2 Advanced Full Motion Mount and its been way better for those side angles. One thing though, those VESA holes on the A80L are definitely low. When I mounted mine, the TV sat much higher than my old LED did on the same bracket. I had to patch my drywall and move the whole thing down about six inches to keep it at eye level. Just keep that in mind before you drill. TL;DR: Avoid the Sony mount if you need real swivel range. The Sanus is rock solid for the weird weight distribution on these panels, just measure twice because the TV will sit high.

I've been really satisfied with how a solid articulating arm handles the lower VESA weight distribution on these OLEDs. It works well for those specific clearance specs you're looking for.

  • check the arm extension distance
  • look for integrated cable channels No complaints with going for a heavy-duty universal option instead of the proprietary one. It'll definitely support the panel weight without sagging.
