Just grabbed a new Sony Bravia X90L for my tiny apartment here in Brooklyn and I'm freaking out a bit because the built-in speakers are honestly kind of weak. I'm trying to get a soundbar setup before my friends come over for a movie marathon next Friday but I'm stuck. My budget is capped at $650 max. I was looking at the Sony HT-A5000 because of that Acoustic Center Sync thing where it uses the TV as a speaker too but then I read some threads saying the Sonos Beam Gen 2 is way better for the price. I'm so confused if I should stick with Sony for the compatibility or if I'm just paying for a marketing gimmick... what actually works best with these TVs?
Tested center sync once and it muddied the soundstage.
I usually suggest staying within the same brand for stability. The Sony HT-A3000 3.1ch Dolby Atmos Soundbar is a decent option that fits your budget and avoids any weird HDMI handshake issues. It works perfectly with Bravia Sync. While the Sonos Beam Gen 2 Compact Smart Soundbar sounds great, sticking with Sony ensures everything just works without troubleshooting... its just safer for your movie night.
Unfortunately dont bother with those high end Sony bars, had connection issues for me. If you want something that actually stays connected just get the Sony HT-S2000 3.1ch Dolby Atmos Soundbar. Ngl my x90l stand legs are so wobbly they actually scare me. the whole thing shakes every time my neighbor closes their door... living in these old Brooklyn buildings is a nightmare for expensive tech. Anyway, stick to the basics for the audio.
Love that X90L panel, it's seriously amazing! Before I dive into specs, are you planning on adding rear satellites later or just sticking to a single bar? Knowing the room layout helps a ton! Honestly, you should just look at any of the premium bars from Bose. You cant go wrong with their soundstage and the way they handle small room acoustics is fantastic!
