So what is the best soundbar I should actually buy for my Sony Bravia X90K? I finally pulled the trigger on the TV and Im so hyped to get the audio side of things finished but Im stuck between a few choices.
I did some digging online and everyone keeps pointing towards the Sony HT-A7000 because of the whole ecosystem thing where the TV acts as the center channel but man that thing is expensive and some reviews say the bass is weak without the separate sub. I also looked at the HT-A5000 which fits my $1,200 budget way better since I could maybe afford the SW3 subwoofer too. But then I see people swearing by the Sonos Arc and saying it sounds way more natural even if it isnt a Sony product.
Im buying this on Friday so Im in a bit of a rush to decide. My apartment living room is kinda small and has these weird low ceilings so Im worried if those upfiring Atmos speakers on the Sony bars will even work right or if Im just throwing money away.
Does the Acoustic Center Sync actually make a huge difference or is it just a gimmick they use to keep you buying Sony stuff? I really want that immersive feel for movie nights but I dont want to regret spending my whole savings on something that doesnt even sound that much better than the TV speakers...
Honestly after years of gear testing, I prioritize reliability over everything. Nothing ruins a movie night like audio dropouts! Actually moved away from Sony because of connection bugs and absolutely love my JBL Bar 1300X 11.1.4 Channel Soundbar with Detachable Surround Speakers. Its been fantastic and way more stable tho. Since your ceilings are low, having those physical detachable rears will give you way better immersion than relying on bouncing sound anyway!
I saw this earlier and just had to chime in! I actually disagree with sticking only to the Sony ecosystem because youre paying a huge premium. If you want a massive upgrade without blowing your savings, look at the Samsung HW-Q930C 9.1.4ch Soundbar instead. It includes the sub and rears for way less than the A5000 setup! Those low ceilings will actually make the Atmos height effects pop even more. Youre gonna love it!
Just saw this thread and honestly the current state of home audio is driving me absolutely insane! Its such a scam how these companies are pricing things lately. Youre looking at spending over a grand on something like the Sonos Arc Premium Smart Soundbar and they dont even give you a proper low-end experience without upselling you on a separate five hundred dollar box. It drives me crazy how weve accepted this as the norm! I have been testing gear for years and the downward spiral of value is just depressing. Seeing companies focus so much on proprietary gimmicks instead of just building better drivers is just sad. Here is what really grinds my gears about the current market:
> Does the Acoustic Center Sync actually make a huge difference or is it just a gimmick they use to keep you buying Sony stuff? Honestly the center sync thing is mostly a gimmick. I tried it on my setup and it basically just pulls the voices up a bit, but if your bar is already decent you wont even notice a difference after five minutes. It definitely isnt worth paying a huge premium for just to stay in the same brand family. Since you mentioned the low ceilings, I'm worried the Atmos stuff is gonna sound muddy anyway. It needs room to breathe to bounce correctly. Couple questions though... are you mostly watching movies or is this for gaming too? Also are you dead set on a single bar or would you be open to a smaller bar with a much bigger subwoofer? In a small room the bass usually matters way more than the height channels.
