Just finished setting up my new Sony X90L and the 4K quality is blowing my mind but I hate having three remotes on my coffee table for the soundbar and PS5. I did some digging and saw everyone talking about Logitech Harmony but they are discontinued and super pricey on eBay now which is annoying. Then I looked at the Sofabaton U2 but people keep saying the line of sight is finicky and the app is buggy. I've got like $120 to spend before my movie marathon next weekend and just need something reliable. What do you guys recommend for a Sony setup that won't give me a headache?

I dealt with the same clutter on my X90J last year. Ended up finding a cheaper way out using a learning remote.

  • Enable Bravia Sync in your Sony settings to handle the soundbar via HDMI-CEC.
  • Use the Inteset 4-in-1 Universal Backlit Learning Remote INT-422-4 as an IR alternative. It basically solved my three-remote problem for 30 bucks, tho the programming takes patience. Lemme know if you need help with device codes.

Saw this earlier but just getting home to my own setup. > I looked at the Sofabaton U2 but people keep saying the line of sight is finicky and the app is buggy. Unfortunately, I had issues with that specific model too. I really wanted it to work for my bedroom TV, but the response time was just not as good as expected and the setup felt incredibly clunky. Its honestly disappointing that we have to jump through so many hoops now that Harmony exited the market. Many budget options simply lack the refined database needed for a modern Sony X90L. To help you stay well under that $120 mark, I need one clarification. What specific brand and model is your soundbar? Some older units have weird IR frequencies that wont play nice with the BroadLink RM4 Pro IR RF Universal Remote Hub. If we can confirm the soundbar compatibility, you could potentially solve this for under $50 and save the rest of your budget for the actual movie marathon.

I'm really happy with the Sofabaton X1s Universal Remote with Hub for my Sony rig. It works well and basically solves those line-of-sight issues you mentioned with the U2 since it uses a hub. Quick tip: pair the PS5 via Bluetooth in the app for way better response times. Its a solid choice for under $120 and should make your movie marathon way more relaxing!
