so i finally picked up a 75 inch Sony LED and looking at the back of this thing the VESA placement is just weirdly low? ive mounted plenty of displays before but this one sits way lower than my old LG. i was thinking of just grabbing a standard Sanus tilt mount from the local shop but then i saw people talking about needing specific spacers for sonys recessed holes. my logic was that any universal mount would do but now im worried about the weight distribution or if itll sit way too high on the wall. i need to get this up by Saturday for a watch party. budget is like $100 max. is there a specific brand that handles the Sony offset better or am I overthinking it...

In my experience with Sony sets, that low VESA placement is a total pain. I have tried many setups, and the Sanus VLT7-B1 Advanced Tilt 4D is the best for vertical centering, tho it might push your budget. For a cheaper option, I have used the ECHOGEAR Large TV Tilt Mount EGLT2 multiple times. It includes the exact spacers needed for those recessed Sony holes and feels super sturdy.

Spot on about the leverage. I have seen brackets buckle because of that offset. In my experience, you want a wider wall plate to distribute the load across more studs. The Mounting Dream MD2268-XL Tilting TV Wall Mount is a solid budget pick for this. It handles up to 132 lbs and fits 16 to 24 inch studs. Just use the spacers from the Sony box or the bracket wont sit flush.

@Reply #1 - good point! Honestly though, i had a pretty disappointing experience trying to mount my last 75 inch Bravia with a generic kit. The engineering on these panels is frustrating because that low VESA placement creates a massive amount of leverage at the top of the bracket. Most budget mounts are made of thinner steel that just isnt rigid enough to handle that unbalanced center of gravity. I actually saw my bracket arms bowing slightly before I swapped it out for something more heavy duty. The technical side of this is even more annoying because of the recessed holes. You absolutely need the spacers. If you dont use them, you risk cracking the back plastic or putting too much pressure on the internal components. I ended up having to buy the WALI Universal TV Mounting Hardware Kit because the universal screws in my mount box were either too short or way too long. It was a whole ordeal that took much longer than it should have. If you want to stay under that $100 mark but need something safer than a basic shop mount, I would suggest looking at the Peerless-AV ST680 SmartMount Universal Tilt Wall Mount. It is built like a tank compared to the Sanus stuff at the same price point. The horizontal plate is wide enough to let you shift the TV left or right to compensate for the weird hole placement. Its not as flashy as the 4D tilt models, but it actually holds the weight without that scary drooping effect. Just double check your bolt depth before you crank them down... I almost ruined a panel by being overeager.

Gonna try this over the weekend. Will report back if it works!
