I finally pulled the trigger on a 65 inch Sony A80L and honestly the picture is just blowing my mind right now. Im so stoked to get my movie setup finished before my friends come over next Friday for a Dune marathon. Im living in a condo in Chicago so I cant have bass that shakes the neighbors walls but I really want that Atmos feel without a million wires everywhere.
I have been looking at two main setups and I am totally torn between them:
The HT-A5000 seems like the obvious choice because of that Acoustic Center Sync thing where it uses the TV speakers as the center channel and I feel like that would be super seamless with the Bravia UI. But then everyone raves about the Sonos Beam Gen 2 and how good it sounds for the size plus the app is supposed to be amazing. My budget is capped at 1000 bucks so I cant really go for the HT-A7000 or anything massive right now.
Is the proprietary Sony integration actually worth it for the ease of use or should I just go with the Sonos? Like does the HT-A5000 really feel like part of the TV or is it just marketing hype? I just want the one that plays nicest with the Sony remote and doesnt require me to jump through hoops just to change the dialogue volume...
Like someone mentioned, sync lag is a total mood killer. Honestly, Ive been super satisfied with my Sony setup. I saved a ton by grabbing my Sony HT-A5000 5.1.2ch Soundbar as an open-box deal which kept me way under budget.
I would suggest being cautious. While integration is nice, the Sonos Beam Gen 2 Compact Soundbar with Dolby Atmos offers better balance and still works perfectly with your Sony remote via eARC.
I totally get the struggle! I had a nightmare experience a few years back trying to get a third-party bar to play nice with my display and I ended up returning it because the sync was just... off. The audio lag was just driving me crazy. When I finally got the matching bar for my current setup, it was a complete game changer! The way the menus just integrate directly into the TV interface is fantastic. I can change all my settings right there with the one remote and it never fails me. That center channel feature is definitely the real deal too, it kinda makes everything feel so much more immersive during movies. Honestly, for someone who values reliability and ease of use, sticking with the same ecosystem is the only way to go. Youre gonna love how easy it is to manage!
Good to know!
