I'm looking to upgrade my camera to a Sony a7 IV but want to save some money by buying used. I know this is a popular camera model so I'm hoping there are some good options out there for purchasing a used one in excellent condition.
I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions on the best places to look for a used Sony a7 IV, either online or at physical stores? I want to make sure I buy from a reputable source. What marketplaces have you had good experiences with for used camera gear?
I've had good luck finding used camera gear on B&H Photo's website. They have a used department and the items are graded for condition. Might be worth checking if they have any used Sony a7 IV bodies.
I was honestly so nervous about dropping two grand on a used Sony Alpha 7 IV but wow, it has been such an amazing experience so far! I am super paranoid about getting a damaged sensor or a dropped body, so I actually ended up going through a local pro shop where I could physically inspect the mount and glass. Being able to hold it and test the autofocus in person gave me so much peace of mind!! Pro tip: when you are looking at used bodies online, always ask for a high-res photo of the sensor with the shutter open. If they hesitate or send a blurry pic, just run away! Also, check the shutter count... anything under 30k is basically a baby for these cameras. It is such a fantastic piece of gear, you are totally gonna love it once you find the right one!
The MPB is a great option - I love that they offer 6-month warranties on all used items. I got an a7 III with very minor wear for hundreds less than retail price. Definitely check them out!
Adorama used store is another great choice for buying used gear.
