Stuck between the DJI RS 3 Pro and the Crane 4 for my Sony FX3. Got a music video shoot in Chicago next weekend and need to decide fast. Budget is around $850.
Is the DJI lidar actually worth the extra money?
Just caught this thread today. Regarding what #1 said about how you cant go wrong with DJI... I definitely agree. I've used the Sony FX3 Full-Frame Cinema Camera with the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II for several music videos lately. In my experience, the DJI RS 3 Pro Gimbal Stabilizer handles that setup perfectly, and those auto-locking axes are a life saver when you're moving fast between locations. About the lidar stuff... honestly dont bother with it for the GM II lens. The FX3 autofocus is already legendary and lidar is really for manual glass. Save that money for your Chicago trip instead. If you want a cheaper alternative, the Zhiyun Crane 4 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal is beefy enough too, but DJI software is just more polished imo. Just make sure to run the auto-tune after balancing.
Go with DJI, you cant go wrong. I would suggest being careful with the motor torque and payload distribution data tho.
