I wondering to buy current FX3 or just waiting for the FX3 II ? Any release date info about FX3 Mark II ?
^ This. Also, if you're watching the budget, waiting for a Mark II is kinda pointless when current specs are already so solid. I'm honestly very satisfied with the Panasonic LUMIX S5IIX Mirrorless Camera as an alternative right now. It gives you 6K open gate and internal ProRes for literally half the price of the FX3, which is insane value for a professional workflow. If you're already deep in the Sony ecosystem and want to save cash, just hunt down a used Sony Alpha 7S III Mirrorless Camera. Its the exact same sensor and BIONZ XR processor as the FX3 but way cheaper on the second-hand market because its not the 'cool' cinema body. Honestly, the results are identical once you're in the grade. I've been using one alongside my bigger rigs and it works well without any complaints. Better to spend the saved money on glass than wait for a 2025 release that might just be incremental anyway.
Get FX3 now, the FX3 II could be released in 2025.
FX3 is still a good camera right now, why waiting for FX3 II ?
@Reply #3 - good point! honestly i am feeling the exact same frustration right now... it is so draining waiting for rumors while trying to maintain a professional workflow!! i love the Sony FX3 Cinema Line Full-frame Camera but the lack of info from sony is just maddening when you need absolute reliability. here is why this limbo is so difficult:
^ This. Also, waiting for a mark ii when the current sensor tech is still top tier feels like a waste of shooting time. Honestly, if you're worried about the price of the FX3 but want that cinema workflow, you could go the DIY route and rig up a Sony FX30 Super 35 Cinema Line Camera. Its basically the same body and software but with an APS-C sensor, and it saves you a ton of money for glass. A few technical points to consider:
FX3 Mark II is most likely to be released in 2025.
