According to SAR, Sony will have a new product announcement on November 19th next month. The new camera will be a full frame mirrorless camera, which one do you think it would be? a7 V, a1 II, FX3 II or anything else.

TL;DR: Most signs point to the Sony Alpha 1 II being the big reveal. Honestly, if I had to put money on it, its probably gonna be the a1 successor. The original Sony Alpha 1 has been out for ages in tech years and really needs that dedicated AI processing unit for autofocus that the newer bodies have. From a practical side tho, I am really hoping for the Sony Alpha 7 V. The Sony Alpha 7 IV is still a solid workhorse for most of us, but seeing those newer features trickle down would be nice for the bank account. Doubt it is the Sony FX3 II yet because the current one is still dominating the video space. If it is the a1 II, most hobbyists are gonna be priced out anyway... flagship gear prices are getting pretty wild lately.

Just saw this thread and the anticipation is killing me! After years of shooting with everything from old A-mount glass to the latest E-mount, I have noticed Sony loves to surprise us with sensor tech. My switch to the Sony Alpha 7R V was amazing because of that AI chip, but for pure video, the current specialized bodies feel like they are lagging kinda. Here is why I think we might actually see the Sony FX3 II instead:

  • The cinema line is the only segment missing that dedicated AI processing unit for real-time tracking which is honestly a total game changer for solo shooters.
  • Adding the 4-axis multi-angle screen from the R series to a video body would be fantastic for ergonomics during high-low shots.
  • Competitive pressure in the mid-range cinema market is getting high, and Sony usually strikes back fast. I remember when I first got the Sony Alpha 7S III and thought it was the peak, but the newer AF systems are just on another level. If they bring that tech to a new FX series or maybe even a Sony Alpha 7S IV, it would be a total dream for those of us doing heavy event work. Cant wait to see what drops on the 19th!
