I'm starting my vlogging journey and need recommendations for the best lens to use with my Sony ZV-E10II. I'm looking for a lens that offers great autofocus, a wide field of view, and performs well in various lighting conditions. Size and weight are also important since I'll be carrying it around a lot. Any suggestions on versatile lenses that fit these criteria? I'd love to hear about your experiences and see some example footage if possible!

Unfortunately, finding glass that actually hits those specific MTF chart expectations while maintaining a manageable weight is often more frustrating than it looks on paper. I remember trying to rig up a setup for my cousins outdoor wedding last summer. I spent weeks calculating the exact focal length needed for the aisle walk versus the reception lighting. He wanted this very specific cinematic look with high-speed autofocus tracking, so I brought out my entire kit bag thinking I was prepared for every lumen drop-off imaginable. Well, the ceremony started right as a massive cloud bank moved in, and the T-stop rating on my primary glass just didnt hold up as expected. I spent the whole time fiddling with the gimbal balance because the internal zoom mechanism was shifting the center of gravity just enough to cause motor jitter. It was honestly a disaster and we ended up with twenty minutes of blurry footage of a flower girl. Technical specs look great in a manual, but real-world variables like humidity and weight distribution totally ruined that shoot for me. Just a complete mess tbh. It makes you realize how much money people throw at gear that fails under basic environmental pressure...

Sony FE 20mm f/2.8.

Depends on your camera body and budget! I've been vlogging for 3 years and found the Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 GM to be my perfect all-rounder. Wide enough for selfie shots but versatile enough for b-roll. Expensive though at around $2,200.
