• I completely agree with John on this. It was a massive letdown to see Sony reuse that sensor with such poor readout speeds. Unfortunately, the rolling shutter makes it almost unusable for any dynamic vlogging. It just isnt as good as expected given the competition in 2025. If you are looking for better value, I would suggest looking into the Panasonic LUMIX S9 Mirrorless Camera. The build quality is superior and the open gate recording is a game changer for social media formats. It is much more versatile for a hybrid workflow than the Sony vlogging line... For a more cost-conscious route, a used Sony Alpha 7C Full-Frame Mirrorless is a much smarter investment. The autofocus remains top-tier and you get the actual benefits of a full-frame sensor. I usually pair mine with the Sony FE 20mm f/1.8 G for a high-quality wide angle look. It provides a much more professional result than the newer plastic-heavy vlogging lines without spending a fortune.

I saw the ZV-E10 II mentioned but honestly i was kinda disappointed with that release. The rolling shutter is still pretty noticeable if you move even a little bit fast and the price jump just doesnt feel worth it to me. Quick question tho... what are you actually filming? Like is it travel stuff where youre walking around or just talking head stuff at a desk? Knowing that helps a ton with the lens situation. I really wanted to love the Panasonic LUMIX S9 for full frame vlogging because it looks so cool, but unfortunately the recording limits and no mechanical shutter really killed it for me as a daily driver. It felt half-baked for the price. If youre on a budget and want something that just works, the Canon EOS R50 is surprisingly solid even tho it is not full frame. But if you really want that full frame look without spending 3k, maybe look at the Sony Alpha 7C II. It is expensive but at least it wont let you down mid-shoot like some of the cheaper vlog specific models often do.
