I recently got the new Sony a7 IV mirrorless camera and I'm looking to take it underwater for some photography and videography. Does anyone have recommendations on the best underwater housing to use for the a7 IV?
I've heard good things about Ikelite, Nauticam and Aquatica but wondering if there are other great options out there. Ideally looking for something that allows access to all key camera controls, has a leak detection system, and works well down to at least 60m/200ft.
Would love to hear your firsthand experiences with housings you've used with the a7 IV or similar Sony cameras.
I personally use the Ikelite 200DL housing for my Sony a7 IV. It's a bit more budget-friendly compared to some other options, but it doesn't compromise on quality. The dry lock (DL) port system is secure and easy to use, and it provides great flexibility with lens choices. Rated to 60 meters, it should cover most recreational diving needs. Highly recommend it for those looking to get a reliable housing without breaking the bank.
It mainly depends on your budget.
Nauticam is expensive but delivers high glass quality, like Marelux (a new promising company).
Ikelite is not very comfortable housing, at least for me.
I would look at Isotta; it's not that expensive, it's good quality, and you can use most of the other companies ports.
I would look at Seacam or Sea & Sea if the budget is unlimited.
What are you looking to shoot? Video or photo? Macro or wide-angle?
Good luck!
