Iām currently switching between a Sony FX3 and a7S III for my cinematography projects and need a gimbal that handles both smoothly. I often use a cage and heavy glass like the 24-70mm GM, so payload is a major concern. Would you recommend the DJI RS 3 Pro or the Crane 4 for this specific setup?
I struggled with payload weight until I grabbed the Zhiyun Crane 4 Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer for $669. It's handled 13.2lbs effortlessly! Lesson: save cash, dont pay the DJI RS 3 Pro tax.
Not to disagree, but I've had a different experience after years of hauling heavy Sony rigs around. I used to think I *needed* the most expensive flagship models for my FX3 and that 24-70mm GM glass, but honestly... I was just burning cash lol. I'd actually suggest a different approach if you're looking for value. I've been using the FeiyuTech SCORP-C 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer lately, and it's basically a steal at around $259. In my experience, its 5.5lb payload capacity is plenty for an a7S III with a cage. I mean, sure, the DJI stuff is slick, but is it actually $400+ better for standard cinematography?? Probably not. Anyway, I learned the hard way that you don't always need to pay the 'brand tax' for performance. If you can get the same smooth results for half the price, why wouldn't you? Just gotta balance it right... gl with the choice! 👍
