I recently purchased a Sony Alpha mirrorless camera and I'm looking to invest in a high-quality flash to improve my low-light photography. I primarily shoot events and portraits, so I need a flash with good power output, fast recycle times, and wireless control capabilities.
I've been considering the Sony HVL-F60RM2 and the Godox V1-S, but I'm open to other suggestions as well. What do you think is the best flash for Sony Alpha cameras in terms of performance, reliability, and value for money?
Any advice or personal experiences with different flash models would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help.

I recommend the Godox V1 or the new released Godox V1Pro for more professional work. And off-camera flash, get the Godox AD200 PRO II, on-camera flash suits quick event photography, while the AD200 PRO II with a modifier excels in other scenarios, offering superior performance.

@beeee3 do you have any thoughts on how the new V1Pro compares to the original V1? What upgrades or improvements does it offer that might make it worth the extra cost for a working pro?

While regular use feels similar to the V1, with slightly better color consistency, the V1Pro's advantages become apparent under demanding conditions.
The V1Pro's standout feature is its enhanced thermal capacity, more than tripling the original V1's capabilities. This allows for prolonged use at high power settings without triggering thermal protection mechanisms, making it ideal for challenging shooting environments.
Another notable addition is the SU-1 fill flash, a small unit that attaches to the front of the V1Pro. This accessory replaces traditional bounce cards, providing catchlights and shadow lift when using bounce flash. The SU-1 offers independent power control, enhancing lighting flexibility for event and portrait photographers.
While the V1Pro's improvements cater primarily to professional event shooters, its higher price point may deter casual users. Another excellent flash to consider is the Profoto A10 for Sony. As you'd expect from Profoto, this is a professional-grade flash with a price to match (around $1095).

The Sony F60RM2 is a good flash of course, but it is also a bit expensive, I think not worth that money compared to Godox V1.

Godox V1Pro is much cheaper than Sony flashes.

I've been using the Sony HVL-F60RM2 with my A7IV for about a year now. Expensive but worth every penny. TTL accuracy is spot on, recycle time is amazingly fast, and the battery life is excellent. The wireless radio control is also reliable if you need to use it off-camera.
