What are you guys actually using for a small flash on the a7C II that doesnt ruin the whole point of having a compact camera? I just picked up the Mark II for some late night street stuff in Brooklyn and every flash I own looks ridiculous on it. I tried putting my Godox V860III on there and the balance is just trash, it feels like the hot shoe is gonna snap if I move too fast. I've been shooting for ten years so I know how to work a flash but I've never dealt with a body this small before and it's driving me crazy. I need something with decent TTL because I'm moving fast but I dont want a massive speedlite sticking six inches off the top. I looked at the Godox Lux Junior but the recycle time is probably gonna kill me for candid shots and the Sony F28 is way overpriced for what it is. I've got about 200 bucks to spend and I need to be able to shove the whole thing into my Peak Design 3L sling without taking the flash off every single time. Is there anything out there that actually balances well or am I just stuck with using high ISO and praying?
You definitely need the Godox TT350S Mini Thinklite TTL Flash for Sony! I love it because it is incredibly budget-friendly and fits the a7C II form factor perfectly. It solves two main issues. First, the balance is spot-on for one-handed shooting. Second, the TTL is surprisingly snappy for street work. It fits in my sling easily too. Honestly, its a fantastic deal for under $90!
^ This. Also, satisfied with my Sony HVL-F20M Compact External Flash. Its GN20 power and 105g weight are perfect. I used it for a Brooklyn shoot last night; it fits anywhere.
> @Reply #1 - good point! That 350 size is the sweet spot for the a7C II. In my experience, look at the Godox V350S Li-ion TTL Flash for Sony specifically. The lithium pack gives you 1.7s recycle times, which is essential for fast street shots. I've tried many compact setups and this one doesnt feel top-heavy. It fits in the Peak Design Everyday Sling 3L easily even when mounted.
