So I finally pulled the trigger on a Sony ZV-1 for my solo trip to Tokyo next month and I am super excited but also kinda stressed about the stabilization. I know it has some internal stabilization but honestly its not great when I am walking fast or doing those pan shots I want to try. I've been looking at the DJI RS 3 Mini and the Zhiyun Crane M3 or M2S.
The RS 3 Mini seems like the gold standard right now but I am worried it's actually too big for such a tiny camera? Like will it even balance right if the camera is so light? Then I read some reviews saying the Zhiyun Crane M2S is better for compacts but then someone else said the motor blocks the screen when you try to flip it out which is like the whole point of the ZV-1.
My budget is around $300 max because I already spent way too much on accessories and extra batteries. I need something that fits in a regular backpack without taking up the whole space since I am traveling light. Is the RS 3 Mini worth the extra weight or should I stick to something smaller like the Zhiyun stuff for a point and shoot... I really just want something that wont give me a headache trying to balance it every time I turn it on.

I've cycled through plenty of setups for travel. The DJI RS 3 Mini 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer is definitely solid, but it's pretty massive for such a small camera. Personally preferred the Zhiyun Crane M2S 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal for portability because it fits anywhere, tho the screen clearance is tight. If you need better ergonomics, Feiyu SCORP-Mini 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal is a decent middle ground for tiny setups.

I've been very satisfied using the Zhiyun Crane M3 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal with my ZV-1. It's a more logical choice for compact setups compared to the DJI. My recommendation is to add a small baseplate extension. This ensures you can access the battery compartment while the camera is mounted, which makes for a much more efficient workflow while traveling.
