So I finally pulled the trigger on the ZV-E10 II because Im heading to Japan in about three weeks and I really need a solid lens for walking vlogs through Tokyo. Ive been looking at the Sony 11mm f1.8 since everyone says its super sharp and great for low light but then I saw the Sigma 10-18mm f2.8 and now Im stuck.
The Sigma seems more versatile for getting b-roll shots of the food and stuff but Im worried the f2.8 might not be fast enough for night scenes and the Sony is way more compact for my small gimbal. My budget is capped at like 700 bucks since I already spent a lot on the body and I just cant decide which one to grab before I fly out...

I've been super satisfied with how it handles night shots in tight streets. Since its a prime, its tiny and works well on any small gimbal without needing a rebalance. Plus, it usually costs less than the Sigma, so youll have more spending money for the actual trip. No complaints from me.
Unfortunately, I had issues with f2.8 zooms at night; it just wasnt as good as expected for those dark Shinjuku streets. My footage looked way too grainy and I worried about the sensor. Are you using a heavy cage on that gimbal? Honestly, check out the Samyang AF 12mm F2.0 E instead. Its a solid budget alternative that saves you hundreds for your trip while still being fast enough for the dark.
Just saw this and man, it brings back memories of my trip to Osaka last spring. I spent weeks obsessing over the exact same thing before I left. I ended up going with a power zoom because I really wanted that smooth look for food shots and transitions. Couple things I learned the hard way:
