I recently purchased a Sony ZV-E10 camera and I'm looking for a good video lens to pair with it. I primarily plan to shoot vlogs, interviews, and some b-roll footage. I'd prefer a versatile lens that can handle a variety of situations without breaking the bank.

I highly recommend the Sony E PZ 10-20mm f/4 G lens. It's great for vlogging and wide-angle shots, perfect for capturing yourself and the environment. The optical stabilization works well with the camera's electronic stabilization for smooth footage.

In my experience, you should definitely look for a versatile zoom for your b-roll and a wide prime for vlogging. I've used both Canon and Sony over the years, and while I prefer the colors on other systems, Sony's tracking is just way more reliable for solo shooting.

  • zooms are better for quick b-roll
  • primes help with that interview look
  • stick with one brand to save your sanity It reminds me of this one time I was filming in a desert. I brought a different brand because I thought the colors would be better for the sand. The dust got into every single seal. I spent more time cleaning my gear than actually filming. Then my car's AC died and I had to drive home in 100-degree heat. I was so dehydrated I actually started seeing mirages on the highway. anyway lol, sorry kinda went off topic there.

The Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 lens is a great choice for ZV-E10.

late to the party but ive spent years tinkering with e-mount rigs and those kit zooms usually dont cut it for clean b-roll. one thing tho, are you shooting mostly in low light or do you have a lighting setup for those interviews? that really changes what glass you need. if you want to move away from the zooms already mentioned, these primes are solid:

  • Sony E 11mm f/1.8: this is basically the king for vlogging on the zv-e10. its ultra-wide which is vital because the active stabilization on that body crops the image quite a bit. super low focus breathing too.
  • Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary: ive used this for countless talking head shots. its a bit chunky but the t-stop performance is incredible for the price. perfect for that blurred background interview look.
  • Sony E 15mm f/1.4 G: this is the high-end diy choice. it has dual linear motors for silent autofocus and a dedicated aperture ring which is a godsend for manual exposure pulls. primes are a bit more restrictive than zooms but the glass quality is just on another level for video. let me know if you need more info on the autofocus speeds or bokeh for these.

Sigma 10-18mm and 18-50mm.

For vlogging with a selfie stick, use a wide lens (10-12mm) to capture your face effectively. However, for general shooting, a 16-50mm range is more versatile. Wide lenses for vlogging typically don't zoom enough for other purposes. Consider:

Vlogging: Sony 10-20mm f4 or 12-24mm f4

General purpose: Tamron 17-70mm f2.8 or Sony 18-105mm f4

Choose based on your primary intended use.
