Honestly just so fed up with this ZV-E10 kit lens and I need something new like yesterday. I bought this camera because everyone said it was the best for vlogging but nobody mentioned that once you turn on the active stabilization it crops in so much that my face basically takes up the whole screen. Its driving me crazy because I'm trying to film some travel stuff for my trip to Tokyo in literally two weeks and I look like a giant thumb. My arm is literally aching from trying to hold the camera far enough away so you can see literally anything behind me but it just isnt working.

I was thinking about getting the Sony 11mm f1.8 but man that price tag is a bit much for me right now since I already spent a lot on the body and the tripod stuff. My logic was maybe a prime lens would be better but then I saw the Sigma 16mm and people say its great but then other people say its huge and heavy which is the last thing I want if I'm walking around all day. I'm stuck between wanting something wide enough to compensate for the crop but also keeping it cheap because my budget is capped at like $350 max maybe $400 if I stretch it.

I looked at some of the Samyang lenses too like the 12mm but I heard the autofocus can be hit or miss and for vlogging I really need that eye tracking to be sticky otherwise the whole video is ruined. Is there any hidden gem I'm missing? I feel like I'm going in circles watching YouTube reviews that all say different things. I just need a wide lens that wont break my bank or my wrist. Seriously if I cant find a fix for this crop issue I might just sell the whole setup and go back to my phone... does anyone have a solid recommendation that actually works for a handheld setup on a budget?

Unfortunately that crop is a total buzzkill. Your 16mm kit becomes a 23mm equivalent with active steady.

I've been using the Samyang AF 12mm f2.0 E for my travel videos and I'm really satisfied with the results. It weighs almost nothing... like literally half of the Sigma 16mm so your wrist wont be screaming after ten minutes of filming. Technically, that 12mm focal length gives you enough room so you arent just a floating head even with active stabilization turned on. It is way wider than the kit lens at 16mm. I've had zero issues with the autofocus tracking my face even when I'm wearing a mask or sunglasses. For under $350 it is basically the best bang for your buck right now. It is small enough that you can just leave it on the camera all day. Definitely check it out if you want to stay light and keep some cash in your pocket for the actual trip.
