What is the best app for collaborative Amazon shopping lists?

Honestly about to lose my mind trying to coordinate this move with my boyfriend. We are buying so much stuff for the new house like small appliances, decor, and organization bins and the built-in Amazon share with others feature is actual garbage. It never updates fast enough and half the time he adds something I cant even see it on my app until I refresh like ten times. We ended up buying two identical air fryers last week because of this mess and I am so over it.

Ive been looking at a few alternatives but Im torn between these three:

  • AnyList: Seems like the gold standard but I think the web import might be behind a paywall?
  • Bring!: I like the visual style but not sure if it handles Amazon links well or if its just for groceries.
  • Google Sheets: My backup but honestly its a nightmare to use on a phone while we are actually browsing.

Our budget is super tight because of the renovation so I dont want a monthly subscription just to make a shopping list. I need something that syncs instantly so we stop double-buying things. We are in the middle of the move right now in Philly and I need to set this up tonight. Does anyone actually use AnyList for this specifically or is there something better I am missing?

Oh man, I totally feel your pain with the double-buying! When we did our kitchen overhaul last summer, it was a literal data nightmare trying to keep everything synced across three different devices. We were trying to track down these specific industrial drawer pulls and ended up with three separate shipments because the status didnt update on my husbands phone. Amazons native Share feature is basically a legacy sync system that feels like its running on a 2005 backend, so Im not surprised you ended up with two air fryers! I love AnyList because the database structure is super robust, but yeah, Im pretty sure the web import feature is locked behind the Complete subscription. IIRC its like 15 bucks a year? Not huge, but if youre on a tight budget for the Philly move, every cent counts! I remember reading somewhere, maybe on a dev forum, that Bring! actually uses a different API for their image scraping, which might mess up with Amazons dynamic URLs. I havent tested it myself for decor specifically, but Ive heard it can be flaky with non-grocery items. If you want a really slick way to handle the cart specifically, someone told me about a way to share amazon canada cart directly which might bypass the list sync lag entirely! I think it works by generating a shared session link or something similar, which sounds fantastic for real-time coordination. Honestly, for the technical side of things, Ive been experimenting with Notion lately because the sync latency is almost zero, though the mobile app can be a bit heavy if your phone is older. Its amazing once you get it dialed in tho! Just be careful with the learning curve while youre busy packing boxes...

Saw this earlier...

  • Any basic notes app from Google works because they sync via the cloud instantly.
  • Use a tool to share Amazon carts to avoid duplicates. Its reliable.
