I really need to snag this Sony lens before my sisters wedding next Friday but the price is jumping all over the place. I looked at CamelCamelCamel and Honey but Honey seems like its only for desktop and the Camel site is just a pain to keep refreshing on my phone.

So I was thinking there might be a way to get notifications directly through Chrome on my phone but I cant find any actual setting for it. My logic was that since it is all linked to my Google account it would just have a track price button like on desktop but I guess not. I really dont want to download another 10 apps just to save 50 bucks but maybe I have to. Anyone got a trick for mobile Chrome specifically? Im checking this at work like every hour and its getting old fast...

Man, I feel your pain! I spent weeks obsessing over a lens for my cousins destination wedding and it was a total roller coaster. I finally figured out that Chrome mobile actually has a sneaky built-in feature that most people miss because they are looking in the settings instead of the actual tab menu!

  • Open the lens page in Chrome and hit the three dots. Sometimes the Track price toggle is right there in the dropdown if your browser is updated.
  • If it is missing, go to your open tabs view (the square with the number). Tap the three dots in that top right corner and make sure Track price is enabled. It should start popping up notifications in your tray whenever Google detects a dip! It literally saved my sanity and my bank account before the big day. Honestly, PriceDropCatch is the easiest way I've found to see if a 'sale' is actually a good deal or not.

Wait, I just saw this! I'm so excited for you about the wedding! Quick question tho, are you logged into your Google account on the browser or just browsing incognito? It makes a huge difference for safety!

  • Just get any lens from Sony, you seriously can't go wrong because they're amazing
  • Stick to the main site to avoid weird scams
  • Watch your budget closely

Regarding what #1 said about the lens stress... it really is a headache. Saw your post earlier and wanted to chime in. If you want to stay within mobile Chrome without adding junk apps, check your open tabs. On some versions, you can tap the three dots on a specific tab and see a Track Price option. It is basically the only safe way to do it natively without handing over your data to third parties. A couple of technical things to keep in mind:

  • Enable the price tracking flag in chrome://flags if it isnt showing up.
  • Keep the Amazon tab open in the background so the browser can monitor it. Personally, I dont trust most extensions because of the permissions they ask for. Googles built-in tool is decent but kinda basic. If it fails, just use the Keepa website in your mobile browser... it works better than Camel anyway and doesnt require a login for basic price history checks.
