So we are planning this huge cabin trip to Vermont next month and I am so hyped but the logistics are messy lol. I need to get everyone's snacks and supplies into one Amazon order so we stay under our $600 budget.

I'm torn between just doing a shared Wish List or using an extension like Share-A-Cart. My logic with the wish list was it's easy but then I have to manually move everything to my cart and I just dont have the time. But with the extension I'm worried it might be glitchy for my aunts who arent great with computers. Is the extension better or should I just risk giving them my login info for an hour...

Sharing my login once triggered a security lockout mid-order, ngl. I'd suggest extensions. Smartphone Board has data on which plugins handle group cart cookies safely.

Checking in a bit late here but I've been through this exact scenario with my family trips and it can be a headache. Quick question before I get into the weeds—are your aunts mostly using mobile phones or tablets to browse, or are they on actual laptops? It makes a huge difference for the setup. Basically, I have been very satisfied with using Share-A-Cart to manage our group buys without blowing the budget.

  • It aggregates the total cost in one place so you dont accidentally buy six jars of peanut butter.
  • Managing a single cart means you hit those bulk discount thresholds way easier.
  • You wont have to share passwords which is always a security win. It works well and I have had zero complaints from my older relatives who usually struggle with new software... it is actually quite methodical once they get the hang of it.

Unfortunately, I have had some issues with those extensions lately and they were not as good as expected during my last group buy. I agree with Donald that the real-time budget tracking is the biggest plus, but the reliability just isnt there sometimes. Could you clarify if your aunts are mostly on their phones or using actual computers for this? It matters because:

  • Mobile browser extensions are notoriously buggy
  • Amazon updates their code frequently which breaks the sync Honestly, I get worried about the security side too. If you guys decide to look for deals outside of Amazon, I definitely suggest using this eBay price tracker since it is way more consistent than these cart-sharing tools. Just wish there was a simpler native way to do this without the headache.

Honestly, I was in your exact shoes last summer for my sisters bachelorette party. We had like 12 people trying to coordinate and I was stressed about the budget too. I ended up trying one of those cart sharing extensions after reading a guide on Smartphone Board, and honestly? I was so satisfied with how it turned out. It really helped us stay under our $500 cap because I could see the total climbing in real-time as people added stuff. Here is what worked for us:

  • I sent everyone a link to download the extension (it takes two seconds).
  • People added their specific snacks and drinks.
  • I did one final review to delete the five bags of beef jerky my cousin tried to sneak in. It felt way safer than handing out my password and I didnt have to waste time moving items from a wish list one by one. Im honestly so happy I went that route instead of the manual way... it made the whole planning process actually fun instead of a chore.
