Is it cheaper to buy skincare during the Sephora VIB event?

I am literally scraping the bottom of my Protini jar and my skin is starting to flake so I need to restock like yesterday but the Sephora sale is starting in a couple days and I'm trying to hold out. I've got about 300 bucks set aside for a full routine refresh since I'm almost out of everything but I'm stressing if the 15% VIB discount is even worth the wait. I saw some girl on TikTok saying it's actually a scam because the brands usually do 20% or 25% on their own websites like directly from the brand but then I read on a thread somewhere that shipping costs from individual sites end up making it more expensive if you're buying from multiple brands at once.

Plus the points? I'm so close to getting that 500 point reward thing and I don't know if that counts for more value than just getting a bigger discount elsewhere. I'm in Chicago so shipping is usually fast but if I order from three different sites it's gonna be a mess to track and I really need this stuff before my sister's wedding next weekend. If I wait for the Sephora event will I actually save more or am I just being impatient for no reason? Is it cheaper to just bite the bullet and buy from the brand sites now since most of them have those first-purchase codes anyway?

Re: "Had a moment to think about this more......" - yeah tracking metrics is brutal, unfortunately parsing data via this Sephora price tracker failed.

  • Cousin ran simulations
  • Database corrupted mid-sale Total nightmare lol.

Had a moment to think about this more... I remember trying to hunt down better deals on brand sites once and IIRC shipping thresholds were like 50 bucks each. It was a mess. I dont think the point reward math is perfect but I was happy with how it stacked last time. Using Sephora plus a cash back site works well for me. Not 100% sure on the math tho...

honestly, for a multi-brand haul, the Sephora sale is usually better. If you order that Protini and other stuff from three different sites just to get 20% off, youll probably pay ten bucks shipping on each, which kills the savings anyway. Plus, Sephora shipping to Chicago is fast enough that youll actually get it before the wedding. Id just wait the two days... it saves a lot of tracking headaches.
