im so sorry if this is a really dumb question but i just started getting into skincare and makeup properly like literally last month and im super confused lol. everyone keeps talking about these big sephora sales but i have no idea when they actually happen or if theres like a specific calendar for summer 2024? im trying to plan my budget because i have a huge trip to italy coming up in mid july and i really need to buy a bunch of stuff before then like:
- travel size sunscreens
- a good waterproof mascara
- maybe some of those glowy skin drops everyone has
- a new perfume that smells like vacation
i have about $300 saved up for this haul which is a lot for me so i really want to make sure im getting the best deals possible. is there like a mid-summer sale in june or does it happen later? i keep seeing stuff about a vib sale but i dont even know if im a vib or how you even become one honestly. if someone could just walk me through the dates or tell me if i should wait to buy my stuff i would be so happy... i just dont want to spend all my money today and then see a 20% off coupon tomorrow that would be so sad

Honestly, the whole VIB thing is kinda a letdown for beginners. You basically start as a standard Beauty Insider, and you have to spend like 350 bucks in a calendar year just to hit VIB for that 15 percent discount. Its honestly not as good as it used to be and feels a bit like a gatekept club sometimes. I remember waiting for a big sale before a beach trip a couple years ago, totally convinced a coupon would drop, but it never happened. I ended up panic buying everything at full price the night before my flight... such a bummer. If you really want that glowy skin for Italy, honestly just grab any of the bronze drops from Drunk Elephant or Saie and call it a day. Since Sephora is being stingy with the summer dates, maybe check out the Sephora at Kohls instead? They sometimes have different promos going on that might save you a few bucks before July.

Totally agree, hitting VIB takes forever so dont count on that for your Italy trip. I would suggest being super careful with minis because they are often a ripoff price-wise. Make sure to check the Sale section on Thursdays... that is when new markdowns hit.
