Does anyone know any websites that actually track eBay sold item prices properly because I am seriously losing my mind trying to use the built-in search filters on the site itself! I'm trying to clear out a massive tub of old stuff like my childhood Pokemon card collection and some old Nintendo consoles before I move to Seattle next month and honestly ebay is just making it impossible to get a good read on what things are actually worth these days. Like, why does it only let you see things sold in the last 90 days? It makes no sense especially for rare items that dont sell every single week and i need to see trends over like a year or something to know if im getting ripped off by lowballers.

I'm sitting here with like 40 tabs open trying to compare prices and half the time the sold listings include shipping and the other half they dont and then you click on a listing and it says best offer accepted but it doesnt tell you what the actual offer was!! How am I supposed to know if my mint condition Charizard is worth $500 or $1500 if the actual price is hidden behind some stupid black box?? its so frustrating and i feel like there has to be a better way to do this research without spending six hours a day manually typing things into a spreadsheet which is what im doing now and my eyes are literally bleeding.

I've heard people mention things like Terapeak or something but i think you need a store subscription for that and im just a regular guy trying to sell some stuff once? Are there any free or cheap alternatives that just give you a clean list of historical prices? I just want to see:

  • actual final sale price including offers
  • dates going back at least 6-12 months
  • maybe a graph or something if that even exists?

Im really excited to finally get this stuff sold and have some extra cash for the move but this pricing stage is killing my vibe completely... is there a site that makes this less of a headache?

TL;DR: Check the Research tab in your eBay Seller Hub. In my experience, you dont actually need a store sub for Terapeak anymore. eBay opened it up to everyone, and it lets you see 3 years of data including hidden best offer prices. Saved me so much time when I moved. I also keep PriceDropCatch open to watch active auction trends so I know when to list my stuff.

Just catching up on this thread and honestly everyone is giving solid advice. In my experience, those tools really are the gold standard for not getting ripped off. One small point i'd add that people often forget is that the sold price isnt the take home price... which is a painful lesson I learned the hard way. Over the years, I've realized you basically have to be your own accountant when clearing out a big collection like that. Here are a few things I always keep in mind to stay safe:

  • Always factor in the 13% ebay fee plus the 30 cent transaction fee... it eats into your profit way faster than you think.
  • Check if the sold item was actually a re-list because people shill bid their own stuff to fake a high price all the time.
  • If a price looks too good to be true, it probably is. Lately, I've been using PriceDropCatch to track a few rare vintage pieces I've been eyeing. It's super helpful for seeing the actual movement without getting overwhelmed by the noise of the main site. Honestly, if you're moving to Seattle, you're gonna need every penny you can get since it's so pricey up there now! Just take it slow with the cards... one bad sale can really ruin your day. Good luck with the tub of memories!

Ugh i totally get the struggle with the 90-day limit, it is literally the worst! You should definitely check out these two tools because they are absolute life savers for collectors:

  • PriceCharting is amazing for tracking Nintendo and Pokemon values over several years with actual graphs... it is so helpful!
  • 130 Point is the secret weapon for those Best Offer listings because it reveals the hidden price the seller actually accepted!! Also, quick tip: Terapeak is actually free for everyone now in the eBay Seller Hub under the Research tab. It gives you a full year of data for free without a store sub anymore. Stop the spreadsheet madness and use these instead, they make everything so much easier for your move fund. Good luck with that Charizard, thats gonna be a massive win!
