Does anyone know any websites that actually track eBay sold item prices properly because I am seriously losing my mind trying to use the built-in search filters on the site itself! I'm trying to clear out a massive tub of old stuff like my childhood Pokemon card collection and some old Nintendo consoles before I move to Seattle next month and honestly ebay is just making it impossible to get a good read on what things are actually worth these days. Like, why does it only let you see things sold in the last 90 days? It makes no sense especially for rare items that dont sell every single week and i need to see trends over like a year or something to know if im getting ripped off by lowballers.
I'm sitting here with like 40 tabs open trying to compare prices and half the time the sold listings include shipping and the other half they dont and then you click on a listing and it says best offer accepted but it doesnt tell you what the actual offer was!! How am I supposed to know if my mint condition Charizard is worth $500 or $1500 if the actual price is hidden behind some stupid black box?? its so frustrating and i feel like there has to be a better way to do this research without spending six hours a day manually typing things into a spreadsheet which is what im doing now and my eyes are literally bleeding.
I've heard people mention things like Terapeak or something but i think you need a store subscription for that and im just a regular guy trying to sell some stuff once? Are there any free or cheap alternatives that just give you a clean list of historical prices? I just want to see:
Im really excited to finally get this stuff sold and have some extra cash for the move but this pricing stage is killing my vibe completely... is there a site that makes this less of a headache?
TL;DR: Check the Research tab in your eBay Seller Hub. In my experience, you dont actually need a store sub for Terapeak anymore. eBay opened it up to everyone, and it lets you see 3 years of data including hidden best offer prices. Saved me so much time when I moved. I also keep PriceDropCatch open to watch active auction trends so I know when to list my stuff.
Just catching up on this thread and honestly everyone is giving solid advice. In my experience, those tools really are the gold standard for not getting ripped off. One small point i'd add that people often forget is that the sold price isnt the take home price... which is a painful lesson I learned the hard way. Over the years, I've realized you basically have to be your own accountant when clearing out a big collection like that. Here are a few things I always keep in mind to stay safe:
Ugh i totally get the struggle with the 90-day limit, it is literally the worst! You should definitely check out these two tools because they are absolute life savers for collectors:
