How do I invite friends to an Amazon cart collaborator list?

So I am honestly at my wits end here with what should be a simple task. I am trying to organize a massive camping trip for a group of 8 of us heading out to Joshua Tree in a couple weeks and I am the one stuck doing the logistics. We have a budget of about $900 for shared supplies like heavy duty coolers, dry bags, and way too much trail mix. I have been using Amazon since literally the beginning and I thought I knew every corner of the UI but this list collaboration thing is breaking me.

My logic was that I would create a fresh list, set it to shared, and then just ping the link to the guys so they can toss in the specific gear they need. But for some reason I cant find the actual invite to edit feature anywhere. I went into the list settings, checked the manage list section, and all I see is an option to share a link for people to view the list. That does me zero good because I dont want to be the manual data entry clerk for 7 other dudes. I need them to be able to add their own stuff to the list so I can just do a final review and move it all to the cart for checkout.

I remember there used to be a very obvious button that said invite others to add or remove items but it is just... not there? I tried switching from my phone to my laptop thinking maybe the app was just being glitchy but the desktop site is giving me the same runaround. Is this a new update where they tucked it away under some obscure privacy setting? We are on a tight timeline here since we head out on the 15th and I really need to get this order placed by the weekend to make sure everything arrives at my place in Portland before we drive down.

Am I missing a toggle somewhere or did they move the collaborator permissions to a different menu entirely? I even checked if it was a Prime-only thing but I have a full membership so that shouldnt be the bottleneck. Its driving me crazy because I swear I did this last year for a birthday and it took two seconds...

Ugh, I feel your pain. I went through this exact nightmare last summer planning a family reunion. I have used Amazon since the early days too, but their recent UI updates have been a total mess and super buggy. I spent an hour clicking around like a madman before I realized they buried the collaborator toggle. It is really not as good as it used to be, unfortunately. I even saw a post on Smartphone Board about how the mobile app hides the collaboration feature entirely if your version is even slightly outdated. Heres what you need to do:

  • Look for a tiny + Invite text link right under the list title on desktop.
  • If it is missing, go to Manage List and make sure the Privacy is set to Shared and not Private. Honestly, if it still is not showing, just start a brand new list. Sometimes the old ones glitch out and wont show the invite button no matter what you do. It is super frustrating when you are on a deadline for a trip.
